Senior and SSI Exemptions
On November 5, 2013, District voters approved a parcel tax (Measure R) to support Belmont-Redwood Shores School District students and schools. The parcel tax is set at $174 per year for 10 years, beginning with the 2015-2016 tax year and continuing through the 2024-25 tax year.
Senior citizens and recipients of SSI may request an exemption from paying the Measure R parcel tax. You may be able to obtain the exemption for the life of Measure R with one filing.
Copies of the exemption form are available by clicking on the link to the right or in person at the District Office. To obtain an exemption, you must submit the following by mail or in person to the District Office:
- A completed Exemption Form;
- A copy of your current Tax Assessment;
- A copy of an official identification (e.g., a driver's license, state identification card, or passport) that shows proof of age; and
- If applying for an SSI exemption, a copy of your proof of qualification.
Please return the documents to the District office by June 30, 2017 to begin receiving a parcel tax exemption for the 2017-2018 tax year. (The deadline has already passed for 2016-17.)
The Belmont-Redwood Shores District Office is located at 2960 Hallmark Drive, Belmont, CA 94002. If mailing your exemption form and copies, please note "Attn: Parcel Tax Exemptions."
